Assam, the northeastern state of India, made an extraordinary and unparalleled achievement that will go down in history. The captivating and mesmerizing traditional dance of Bihu was executed by an overwhelming number of 11,000 performers, all gathered in one place, thus establishing an extraordinary and unprecedented record in the Guinness Book of World Records. This phenomenal event took place at the renowned Sarusajai Stadium, which is located in the city of Guwahati, in the presence of an enthusiastic and ecstatic audience.
Greeting the gathering, PM Modi said, “I wish the people of Assam a very Happy Rongali Bihu. The scene that I have seen today is unforgettable."

As per reports, a whopping number of 11,304 performers including vocalists actively took part in this remarkable event. The performers also included over two thousand drummers who utilized traditional Assamese instruments like the Dhol, Taal, Gogona, Toka, Pepa, and Xutuli, among others. The event witnessed the presence of Assam's Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, who was in attendance during this outstanding and historic feat. The Bihu dance performance achieved the feat of breaking the world record for the largest Bihu dance performance to have taken place in a single venue.
The performers had to undergo multiple practice sessions in preparation for this grandiose event. It has been reported that the participants, which included both master trainers and dancers, will be receiving a generous grant of ₹25,000 as a token of appreciation. The certificates acknowledging their outstanding achievement will be presented by none other than the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, who is expected to visit the state to celebrate the state's spring festival - Bohag Bihu.
